A deaf passenger, Ivaylo Dodev, is suing Frontier Airlines after being denied boarding due to a communication misunderstanding. Dodev and his wife were attempting to board a flight to the Dominican Republic when a masked gate agent asked a question that Dodev couldn’t hear.
Despite Dodev’s explanation of his deafness, the agent’s attitude reportedly turned hostile, and they accused him of insulting their mask. The couple was delayed and denied boarding, even after calling the police.
Frontier Airlines allegedly provided no valid reason for the denial and refused to rebook them. The incident caused Dodev and his wife to miss her 55th birthday celebration at a resort.
The lawsuit alleges discrimination and violation of disability laws. Frontier Airlines has not yet commented on the matter.
