Carjacking suspect on the loose, law enforcement in collision after police chase from Concord to High Point: RCSO

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Investigators are searching for a carjacking suspect or suspects after a police chase through multiple counties in North Carolina on Monday morning.

Around 5 a.m., Concord Police were called about an armed carjacking at the Concord Pointe apartments near George Liles Parkway. No one was hurt in the incident.

Responding officers say they spotted a vehicle speeding down George Liles Parkway towards Interstate 85 and began to chase the car.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Concord police reached out to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office to tell them about the vehicle chase on Interstate 85 Business heading north.

A Rowan County deputy, who was in the area, tried to get in a position to deploy stop sticks but couldn’t do so safely due to traffic. The deputy decided to join in the chase.

A Concord Police Department officer alerted North Carolina State Highway Patrol at around 6 a.m. that they and a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputy were involved in a chase with a carjacking suspect. Troopers responded to the area, activated their lights and sirens and joined the pursuit as well.
