CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Without a panhandle to act as a convenient guide, the southernmost point of West Virginia can be a bit tricky to find.
The area is in close competition with other parts of the border, but the official southernmost point of the state is a corner on the border with Virginia near the unincorporated community of Faraday in McDowell County.
The point lies just under the Berwind Lake Wildlife Management Area, and the closest city to the spot is War .
The closest road to the point is an intersection between Bandy Road and Vall Creek Right Fork Road, which runs along the border.
