Drying Out and Warming Up this Week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – In the Valley tonight expect clouds moving out of the area, calm winds, and temperatures falling into the low- to mid-60s out the door on Tuesday. Temperatures each and every day this work week begin to warm up. Afternoon temperatures Tuesday reaching the mid-80s and by the close of the work week temperatures in the upper-80s pushing 90 degree, in spots. This week you can put away the umbrellas, as drier air moves into the Valley leading to decreased rain coverage and more sunshine across the area. Speaking of the umbrella between last Thursday (9/12) to Sunday (9/15) some areas across the Valley received 5+ inches of rain, while a large majority saw between 1-2 inches. The rain area wide was beneficial, which will likely result in bettering conditions on the new updated drought monitor, out on Thursday (9/19). Looking ahead to this weekend, temperatures look to return to the mid-80s both Saturday and Sunday with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
