Lubbock police ID 2 motorcyclists injured in weekend crashes

Two motorcycle crashes in Lubbock over the weekend left two people seriously injured.

According to Lubbock police, the first crash occurred at 7:51 a.m. Saturday in south Lubbock. Officers were called to the 2400 block of South Loop 289 when 30-year-old Robert Blanco, riding a motorcycle, collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer.

Blanco suffered serious injuries and was taken by EMS to University Medical Center. According to police, Blanco was not wearing a helmet, and an investigation into the incident is still ongoing as of Monday.

The second crash occurred at 12:07 p.m. Saturday in the 6300 block of 19th Street. According to LPD, a motorcycle driven by 30-year-old Wyoming Fowler collided with the rear of a passenger car.

Fowler was transported to UMC via EMS with serious injuries. According to police, Blanco was not wearing a helmet, and an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
