Children’s Museum of Rock County announces $250,000 pledge from Compeer Financial

JANESVILLE — The Children’s Museum of Rock County announced Monday that local Farm Credit cooperative Compeer Financial has pledged $250,000 toward its capital campaign.

According to the Children’s Museum, Compeer’s pledge puts its Let’s PLAY Together capital campaign at $9.5 million, with a $10 million goal.

The aim of the campaign is to renovate the former Chase bank at 100 W. Milwaukee St. in downtown Janesville into a state-of-the-art children’s museum.

Last month, the organization announced that it had selected JP Cullen as its general contractor, with representatives saying then they were confident they would hit the $10 million fundraising goal.

Compeer’s gift comes from its corporate giving program, the Fund for Rural America. Compeer Financial is a member-owned Farm Credit cooperative providing financial services in 144 counties across Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.

According to the release, the Children’s Museum of Rock County met over the summer with Karen Schieler, manager of Compeer Financial’s corporate giving, and Chief Financial Officer Gary Punzel, at its Janesville office to discuss the children’s museum project.
