Florida Hit by Job Losses as Companies Announce Mass Layoffs
Three businesses have recently filed mass layoff notices in Florida.
Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, companies are required to file an advance notice when planning to lay off 50 or more employees. This ensures state and local assistance can be provided to those affected. Below are the businesses that have recently filed a WARN Notice with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity advising of layoffs.
- Labcorp has advised that 65 employees in Melbourne will be laid off.
- Retailer Conns, which recently filed for bankruptcy, is laying off 67 staff in N Lakeland.
- Smurfitt Westrock Company has filed several notices advising of layoffs across multiple locations in Florida.
