Alsobrooks leads Hogan in Maryland Senate race: Poll

Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (D) holds a lead over former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), according to a new The Hill/DC News Now/Emerson College poll released on Tuesday.

Alsobrooks leads Hogan 49 percent to 42 percent among likely Maryland voters, according to the latest findings. Nine percent of likely voters said they were undecided.

The poll also found that 15 percent of Harris voters said they planned to split their ticket between Hogan and Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“In most Emerson state polling, the ticket splitting has benefited the Democratic statewide candidate — in Maryland it benefits the Republican,” said Spencer Kimball, the executive director of Emerson College Polling.

However, the data showed that Alsobrooks’ lead was fueled in part by her leads among voters under 40, women voters, and Black voters.

Tuesday’s poll signals a potentially slightly narrower race between Hogan and Alsobrooks. The last The Hill/DC News Now/Emerson College poll conducted in May showed Alsobrooks leading Hogan 48 percent to 38 percent among registered voters. Fourteen percent of registered voters in that survey said they were undecided.
