September is Newborn Screening Awareness Month, and the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is celebrating the success of its Newborn Screening Program. This program tests every newborn for certain serious disorders that aren’t obvious at birth. Early detection and treatment can prevent or lessen disabilities and help babies lead healthy lives.
