PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The beloved Virginia State University’s annual Homecoming Parade is returning in full force this year — bringing students, alumni, staff and the community back together for the festive tradition.
Virginia State University is excited to share with the community the return of its honored tradition; the annual Homecoming Parade will be back on its regular route for 2024.
The 2024 Homecoming Parade is open to the public and will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. The theme of this year’s parade is “The Hill Unleashed,”
According to VSU, after the parade was scaled down and rerouted last year, it will again return to its starting point at Union Train Station in Old Towne Petersburg and end at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
“We couldn’t be more excited to return to our full Homecoming Parade experience,” said Regina Barnett-Tyler, Co-Chair of the Homecoming Committee. “This parade is one of VSU’s most cherished traditions, and we’re especially excited to reconnect with the broader community, bringing everyone together in celebration.”
