California woman dies after falling out of truck performing ‘donuts’

(KRON) — A woman was killed after she fell out of a pickup truck that performed reckless stunts in a San Jose parking lot, police said.

The deadly accident happened just before midnight on September 13 in a large lot on Camden Avenue. According to the San Jose Police Department, a man was drunk behind the wheel of the Ford pickup truck with three passengers inside.

The woman fell out of the truck’s front passenger seat, landed on the pavement, and the driver ran over his own passenger, police said.

Officer Tanya Hernandez said the woman suffered fatal injuries and she was pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital.

“The driver and two other passengers remained on scene and alcohol was determined to be a factor in the incident,” Hernandez wrote.

The driver was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. SJPD did not release the names of the arrested driver and victim passenger.
