Looking back: Bob Hope performs at McArthur Court to record crowd in 1967

Bob Hope performed at McArthur Court on Sept. 29, 1967, in front of a crowd of 6,000.

The comedian worked Mac Court into his show that night.

“I’m thrilled to be here — in this wonderful garage,” he told the crowd. “I never saw a building before that had to wear a truss.”

The crowd was one of the largest ever to see an entertainer in Eugene to that time, thanks to a new seating arrangement with the stage in the center of the floor, according to a story by Register-Guard reporter Don Bishoff.
