$2.2 million investment in Lubbock is big news for small businesses

LUBBOCK, Texas — On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.2 million grant to the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) in Lubbock for building renovations to support small business development in the area.

A press release from the EDA said the grant will create the South Plains Regional Small Business Innovation Center. The center will provide resources, support and technical assistance for small businesses in the SPAC’s area, which includes 15 counties.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the Texas economy,” Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement. “This grant will develop the South Plains Regional Small Business Innovation Center to help bolster the local economy and support businesses across the region.”

Lubbock restaurants with family-style dining or meal deals

Governor Abbott thanked the Economic Development Administration for this investment to “Texas’ thriving small business community.”
