BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two men have accepted plea deals in connection with a shooting that wounded a man late last year in south Bakersfield.
Santiago Lomeli on Monday pleaded no contest to attempted murder, and co-defendant Fulgencio Ruiz Jr. pleaded no contest to assault with a gun, according to court records.
Lomeli faces five years in prison and Ruiz time served and felony probation at their Oct. 15 sentencing hearing, District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Daniela Gonzaga said.
Lomeli and Ruiz were arrested after a shooting seriously wounded a man the night of Dec. 20. A court filing said the shooting stemmed from a peace disturbance on Camp Street.
