ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department arrested 18-year-old Joaquin White who fled from officers following a street racing event on Saturday, September 14.

APD says officers were working a street racing operation when they got a call saying vehicles were racing and doing donuts in the area of Gibson and Yale. Officers arrived and a large group of vehicles began leaving the area. Police say officers noticed a Chrysler 300 exiting at a high rate of speed and fled from officers that attempted a traffic stop for reckless driving. White fled the area at high rate of speed and turned off his tail lights at one point before being located while driving to his residence. Police attempted another traffic stop and White stopped and was arrested for reckless driving and aggravated fleeing.
Police say since the beginning of the year, street racing operations have led to 431 citations and 15 arrests for offenses such as reckless driving, aggravated fleeing and DWI.
