Women, Infants, and Children Nutritional Program Celebrates 50 Years

The Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program, also known as WIC, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The federally funded program provides resources to millions of families in the U.S. with healthy food, nutrition education, breast- and chest-feeding support, health screening, and other resources for families, a release from the Washington State Department of Health said. The WIC program has been credited with reducing infant deaths, improving the growth of at-risk infants and children, providing prenatal care for pregnant people, and raised immunization rates.
