DES MOINES, Iowa — On Monday night the Des Moines City Council passed an ordinance that bans camping on public property in an attempt to help address the issue of homelessness in the city. The ordinance has been met with opposition, as critics say it criminalizes homelessness and doesn’t address the limited resources available for those experiencing homelessness.
Des Moines Mayor Connie Boesen joined WHO 13’s Erin Kiernan on the 4 p.m. news Tuesday to talk about the ordinance and what’s next.
