Port Barre police chief starts live, weekly show to keep community informed

PORT BARRE, La. ( KLFY ) — Transparency from his office and keeping the people of Port Barre informed are two top priorities for Police Chief Deon Boudreaux. With those in mind, Boudreaux created “Chief’s Corner,” a weekly live show that he streams on social media.

“We don’t have a newsletter for the town. A lot of people don’t have a means to get the information from us unless we go to their house or call them up. So, I was like, you know what? A lot of people do have Facebook,” Boudreaux said.

Boudreaux said the idea behind his show began in 2018 after seeing a daily live show put on by local musician titled “Mornin’ Joe with Gautreaux” and wanted to bring that idea into his community.

“My show is just to reach out to the people I serve in our community to inform them of things that’s going on inside of our community. And that’s how I started at first,” Boudreaux said.

The show would evolve over the years to include guests and touch on topics like charitable events, hurricane preparedness, even hunter safety.
