Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association Convention returns to Rehoboth, Dewey beaches

DOVER — For the first time since 1997, the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association is holding its annual convention in both the Rehoboth and Dewey beach resort areas bringing trucks, vendors, volunteers and at its close, a scheduled visit from Gov. John Carney to sign bills into law.

The convention divided its time between Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach for programs, seminars and other opportunities.

So, while the opening ceremony was taking place at the Rehoboth Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Ave., on Sept. 17, the meeting spaces of the Hyatt Place in Dewey Beach, 1301 Coastal Hwy. as well as the vendor areas and parking lots outside were set for the rest of the day’s activities.

And ready they were to serve the hundreds of participants that packed the main hall of the convention center for the event kickoff along with family members, guests and any other traveling companions.

In Dewey Beach, trucks and apparatus line the side streets surrounding the Hyatt Place, showcasing millions of dollars’ worth of rescue equipment in fire engines, ambulances and related support vehicles.
