Albuquerque man sentenced for fatally shooting his roommate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man was sentenced for the shooting death of his roommate whose body was discovered in the man’s garage wrapped in a carpet. David Knotts was sentenced to six years behind bars for the shooting death of Alexander Renner in May 2022.

Man accused of Santa Fe murder pleads not guilty to federal charges

According to the criminal complaint, Knotts shot Renner in the head, wrapped him up in a carpet, and stored the body in his garage. Renner was considered a missing person for months before his body was found in late September 2022. Knotts pled no contest to voluntary manslaughter and failure to report a death in January.
