Making your own sweet tea is a lot easier on the budget than buying store bought premade tea, so I thought I would share my families southern sweet tea recipe. It is a recipe that I have adapted to my families liking. It is simple to make and my family loves it. You will need the following ingredients:
Recipe:
4 family size tea bags
1 2/3 cups of sugar
1 gallon of water
Optional: fresh sliced of lemons,
Fill a 2 quart kettle with water and add the tea bags. I like to tie my tea bag strings together for easy disposal.
Bring the water to boil and turn the stove off and leave the tea in the kettle for about 10 minutes to steep, as they say. Tip: Be sure not to boil to long because the tea bags could bust.
Using a gallon tea pitcher, add 2 quarts of cold water and the sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. You can use less sugar, if that is what you prefer.
Pour the warm tea from the kettle into the pitcher and stir together. Fill a glass full of ice and pour the tea in. Enjoy!
