Paul Finebaum And Stephen A. Smith Get Into Lively Debate Over Arch Manning

The Texas Longhorns could have a quarterback controversy on their hands after the big-time performance by the former top player in the 2023 recruiting class, Arch Manning.

Manning entered last weekend’s game after starting quarterback Quinn Ewers was injured. Manning completed 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored a 67-yard touchdown run.

On “First Take,” ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said that he believes Manning can take Texas to the national championship. Stephen A. Smith responded by jokingly saying that Finebaum should get drug tested after saying that because Ewers hadn’t even shown he could take Texas to the national championship game.

“I mean, what are you talking about, Paul,” Smith said. “I mean, he’s shown you that he can get to the national championship? Well, Quinn Ewers hasn’t shown that yet. They weren’t in the national championship game last year.”

Finebaum responded by jokingly saying he would gladly get drug tested if Smith and Shannon Sharpe, who was also in the segment, would go with him. Finebaum said he’s been watching Manning since high school and feels he has “it.”
