Post Falls teen sentenced to prison for his involvement in a shooting that left another man injured

POST FALLS – Ashlan Taylor Hjelmstrom, 18, was convicted of Aggravated Battery and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Vehicle. The charges stemmed from an incident on April 5, 2024, when Hjelmstrom, then 17 years old, and Devin Corles Spring shot at a vehicle occupied by Spring’s then-girlfriend and another man as they were stopped at a stop sign. Spring used his cell phone to track his then-girlfriend’s location as he and Hjelmstrom drove around town until finding her.
