Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash near Fairchild

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — A 21-year-old man died in a crash Tuesday night and Washington State Patrol suspects speed caused the crash.

According to WSP, the Stevens County motorcyclist was riding east on Highway 2 toward Brooks Road near Fairchild Air Force Base around 11:30 p.m.

WSP says a westbound Ford Expedition was turning left onto Brooks and the two collided.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but died at the scene. WSP suspects speed was a factor. It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The driver in the Expedition was not injured and is not facing any charges.
