Columbus first responders awarded for jumping into action when a 6-year-old was shot

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Local first responders were honored at a ceremony on Wednesday for their efforts in saving the life of a 6-year-old boy who was shot multiple times.

Columbus Fire & EMS personnel Blake Everson, Cameron Seebach, Orlando Ford and Philip Martinez, along with Timothy Morgan and Scott Warren with EMS Care Ambulance, received the “First Friday Heroes” award from Piedmont Columbus Regional.

According to Piedmont Columbus Regional, both crews responded to a shooting at a local home. At the scene, they found a 6-year-old boy who was unresponsive after being shot several times.

Crews worked together to carry out a rapid trauma assessment. The child was immediately taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown’s Emergency Trauma Center.

Piedmont Columbus Regional says the patient is now doing well and living a normal life. He underwent rehabilitation to re-learn fine motor skills.
