Police allegedly found $11,300 in fake money after a traffic stop in Manchester Township

Northern York County Regional Police found $11,300 in counterfeit money in a car during a traffic stop earlier this month, according to a news release.

Police charged 20-year-old Jaliayh Portlock of Charlotte, N.C. with forgery and false identification to law enforcement, according to online court records. She was released on $10,000 bail.

It started when an officer on stationary patrol spotted a Chevrolet Malibu with Ohio registration plates parked at a hotel in Manchester Township. A woman got out of the vehicle and walked across the street to the Sheetz, which had available parking spots at the store. When she returned, the car drove away, the release states.

The officer stopped the car when the driver failed to use a turn signal at the intersection of Toronita Street and Route 30, the release states.

While the driver was searching for his identification, the officer noticed a large amount of cash in the center console, the release states.

Sheetz had made a report earlier in the day about receiving fake money, the release states. The officer called the convenience store and learned that a woman had just passed a $100 counterfeit bill.
