Suspects flee on bus after stealing from Southern California store: SBSD

Deputies caught three burglary suspects, including two minors, who used public transportation to flee from a store in San Bernardino County, authorities said Wednesday.

The incident was reported just before 8:45 p.m. Friday at a business on the 8900 block of Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga.

The person who called law enforcement said that three male suspects concealed items and exited the store without paying for the merchandise, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

Deputies arrived on scene and learned the three suspects had already fled the location and boarded an Omnitrans bus.

With the assistance of Omnitrans, the deputies were able to find the location of the bus and bring it to a stop at Foothill Boulevard and Day Creek, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

All three suspects were detained, including two juvenile males, who were both cited for burglary and released to their parents.

The one adult suspect, identified as 19-year-old Mykell Hawkins of Apple Valley, was booked on suspicion of grand theft, commercial burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.
