Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis has a unique opportunity this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
If starter Jordan Love, who is rehabbing from a MCL injury, can’t play, Willis will get the start for the second straight week.
Interestingly enough, though, that start will come against the organization that drafted him, replaced him and ultimately traded him away to the Packers for a seventh round pick. To add another layer of drama to the contest, the game is in Tennessee — which was home to Willis before the trade to Green Bay.
If he plays, one could look at it as a chance to prove the Titans wrong. The did, after all, give up on him.
Does he see it that way?
One could argue that Willis proved the Titans wrong last week by leading the Packers to a 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts while completing 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Those aren’t mind-boggling numbers, but there was a question as to whether or not Willis was a massive bust considering his draft status and how quickly he fell out of favor in Tennessee.
