Wichita man sentenced for road rage shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man was in court Wednesday, where a judge sentenced him in connection to a road rage shooting in June 2023.

Kaeden Murphy, 23, was sentenced to 34 months in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated battery and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon on July 11.

The shooting happened on June 21, 2023. The Wichita Police Department received multiple calls around 5:30 p.m. for a shooting in the 4400 block of S. Broadway.

The victim was shot in the leg by Murphy. They were taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said it was an argument that led to the shooting. The victim was driving a moped while Murphy was driving a pickup truck. Officers used the FLOCK camera system to find and arrest Murphy.

The judge also ordered Murphy to pay $4,947.65 in restitution to the victim in the case.
