Augusta commissioners say they haven’t discussed future for Interim Administrator when she is replaced

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – For months, Augusta leaders have talked about making a change at the top: replacing Interim Administrator Takiyah Douse, but some commissioners say Douse’s future also needs to be part of the conversation.

“I don’t know what they’re thinking. I don’t know what they are planning and quite frankly I don’t think that they know either. So next Tuesday, we’ll see how all of this unfolds,” said Commissioner Jordan Johnson.

Douse has severed more than two and a half years as Interim Administrator. She was the City Central Services Director before commissioners moved her into the position, but city leaders are not saying what the next move will be for Douse.

“I haven’t got that far yet. You can’t put the cart before the horse because that makes for a very bumpy ride. In fact, you can’t even ride that way so I don’t want to do that,” said Commissioner Alvin Mason.

“We’ll see. We’ll have that discussion as well when we finally have colleague show up, but we’ll reserve that for next week,” said Commissioner Sean Frantom.
