A young woman with a wealth of experience on nonprofits wants to lend her expertise to the Newberg City Council.
Britta Mansfield filed for the District 1 spot on the council in July. She will face incumbent Elise Yarnell Hollamon in the November general election. Hollamon was appointed to the post in 2018, then elected to a four-year term in 2020.
Mansfield’s professional resume includes serving for the past three years as executive director of the Willamette Falls & Landing Heritage Area Coalition. That follows a more than six-year stint as director of the Hoover-Minthorn House Museum after spending two years there as an intern.
A Tigard High School and George Fox University graduate with a degree in history, Mansfield also served as part-time associate director of the Newberg Downtown Coalition for about 15 months; worked at GFU for almost two years as an archive assistant, Welcome Weekend coordinator and museum intern; served as an historical research intern for the Newberg Rotary Club for several months while she was a student.
