‘German fare with Texas flair’ promised at Addison’s Oktoberfest

The Town of Addison, in northern Dallas County, is preparing for its 37th Oktoberfest celebration. The event begins at 5 p.m. Thursday and runs through Sunday.

“It’s German fare with a little Texas flair,” says Addison’s Mary Rosenbleeth. “We go big over here.”

Addison says the party will include “dozens of top polka bands.” Rosenbleeth says Oktoberfest will have a total of five stages this year.

“The music will be great this year with some of your favorite German bands that have been around a long time, but you’ll also have, in our Lederhosen Lounge, a little something for people who don’t want something quite so German for people who want a break or want to try something different,” she says.

Addison Oktoberfest serves seasonal beers from Texas brewers but also two of the six beers served at Oktoberfest in Munich.

“One of the things I love about this event is the cultural aspect of it,” Rosenbleeth says.

This year, Addison Oktoberfest is also adding a glockenspiel, but for people familiar with the instrument, Rosenbleet says this one will be larger than the bells they expect.
