Netflix documentary to chronicle Casey and Vicky White: fugitives caught in Evansville

EVANSVILLE – Casey and Vicky White, the Alabama fugitive couple who seized national headlines before their capture in Evansville in 2022, will be the subject of a Netflix documentary later this month.

“Jailbreak: Love on the Run” will premiere on the streaming service Wednesday, Sept. 25. It will be the latest attempt to chronicle the story of Casey – a convicted felon serving a 75-year sentence in Alabama’s Lauderdale County jail – and Vicky – the jailer who reportedly fell in love with him and helped him escape.

The trailer, which came out earlier this month, features interviews with law enforcement and several of Vicky White’s acquaintances. It follows how Vicky, a straight-laced woman in her mid-50s, upended her life to go on the run with a suspected murderer.

“It’s a disgusting romance novel, is what it is,” one of the interviewees says in the trailer.

The 90-minute documentary includes footage of the Whites’ dramatic capture just off U.S. 41 on May 9, 2022. While multiple law enforcement agencies scanned the country for any sign of them and cable news erupted with theory after theory, the couple had been holed up in Motel 41 for a week, eating pizza and plotting their next move.
