Threat made to DC schools prompts increased police presence

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced that there will be an increased police presence at schools across D.C. after an anonymous threat was made.

In a statement released on Thursday, MPD said that detectives are actively investigating the threat.

“We are taking the threat seriously, but at this time we do not believe there is an immediate danger to students or staff,” said MPD.

Officials encourage the community to stay alert and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.

“Your safety and the safety of our youth is our top priority,” said MPD.
