Virginia Hit with Significant Layoffs as Major Facility Closes

Boar’s Head Shuts Down Virginia Deli Plant, 600 Jobs Lost

Unfortunately, there has been a significant layoff in Virginia this week as Boar’s Head closes a deli plant.

Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.

Boar’s Head filed a notice with the Virginia Employment Commission yesterday advising that 600 employees at the plant in Jarrat will lose their jobs. The plant which has not been operational since July will remain permanently closed.
