Sacramento Mexican restaurant closing after more than 40 years

(FOX40.COM) — A Sacramento Mexican restaurant that has been in business since 1981 is closing up shop after a more than four-decade-long run.

Ramona’s Cocina Mexicana announced its impending closure on its Facebook and Instagram accounts, saying that it would close at the end of September.

The restaurant is located at the corner of Northgate Blvd. and Northfield Dr., in the Gardenland/Northgate community.

“Over the decades, we have been honored to be part of countless celebrations, shared meals and cherished moments with you,” reads part of a statement from the Jufiar family, which founded and ran the restaurant.

The message states Ramona Jufiar started the business venture in 1981. No reason was given for the closure, but the message says that it was a difficult decision to make.

Representatives of the owners did not immediately respond with a comment on Thursday.
