DC closes 2 more illegally operating marijuana shops; owners facing $10K fines

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The District is cracking down on illegal pot shops.

Two more businesses were shut down this week in the H Street corridor. The businesses were given a warning in March and then a cease and desist order in July.

On Wednesday D.C.’s Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA), along with officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) served closure orders to the owners of All American Papers and StonerzDC.

“I’m very glad that we’re seeing the city finally take action to go after and shut down some of these illegal businesses,” Ward 6 councilmember, Charles Allen, said.

These are the third and fourth illegal cannabis businesses shut down since councilmember Allen’s emergency legislation went into effect July 15.

“They should definitely look into it. It’s too many laced products apparently going on. And it’s just too much. Too many robberies,” Chaunteara Didley said.
