City gets $300,000 grant for sewer system study

Lazaro Aleman ECB Publishing, Inc. Monticello officials recently signed a 25-page agreement with the Florida Department of Commerce (FDOC) that assures the city of getting a $300,000 grant for a study of a potential capital improvement project. The one-year agreement, which the Monticello City Council signed on Tuesday, Sept. 2, is effective until Feb. 21, 2026. The funding is to be used for a study to determine the feasibility of rehabilitating or replacing the sewer transmission system along U.S. 19. and its severely aged and deteriorated lift stations.
