Hunger Relief Alliance holds annual Hunger Action Breakfast

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – It’s a statistic you don’t want to be first in; Arkansas ranks number one in food insecurity across the nation.

Thursday the Hunger Relief Alliance of Arkansas held their annual Hunger Action Breakfast honoring people like Randy and Melissa Goodman who are stepping up to the plate to fight that statistic.

“At the time we made the commitment I think we were number two in the nation for food insecurity, I think right now the latest numbers we’ve show we’re in first place,” Goodman said.

Randy and Meliss Goodman run the Arkansas Cattle Auction.

“The cattle auction is a place where, you know, the cattle are marketed a lot of them for food needs,” Goodman said.

The Goodmans said they support families across the state.  A portion of their proceeds goes to the Arkansas Beef Project , which gets ground beef distributed to food banks in the state.
