Man gets lifetime ban from TriMet after biting off someone’s ear at Gresham station

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – The man accused of a horrific act at a TriMet MAX platform in Gresham last year has pleaded guilty, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Koryn Kraemer, 25, was charged with second-degree assault after he chewed off the ear of a 78-year-old man and exposed part of the victim’s skull on Jan. 3, 2023.

According to reports, Kraemer approached the elderly man at the station off Northeast Eighth Street in Gresham and “bit the victim repeatedly on the face causing serious injuries.”

After pleading guilty to the assault, he was sentenced to 40 months in prison followed by 20 months of post-prison supervision. Additionally, Kraemer was given a lifetime ban from TriMet.
