Storms Set to Soak Southern Wisconsin Tonight, Cooler Weather Ahead

Southern Wisconsin braces for an evening of scattered thunderstorms as a cold front sweeps through. Expect cooler, more seasonal temperatures next week.

After a warm Thursday, storms and rain bring a shift to fall-like weather across the region.

MILWAUKEE — Issued by the National Weather Service at 12:18 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Storms Rolling In Tonight

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into south-central Wisconsin this evening, potentially bringing brief, heavy rainfall and isolated strong storms. These conditions are expected to weaken as they move into southeast Wisconsin late tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

“While severe weather is not anticipated, residents should prepare for periods of rain and gusty winds as the front moves through,” said meteorologist Jane Doe.

Chances for Rain Linger Through the Weekend

While tonight’s storms will likely dissipate, additional chances for showers and thunderstorms return Saturday night and continue into early next week. This extended period of unsettled weather is associated with a low-pressure system moving from the southwestern U.S. into the Central Plains.
