It was a rough start to the Big 12 world for Cincinnati and Houston last season, and this time around both teams need this.
The Bearcats have been better. 2023 was supposed to be a rebuild campaign, and this year’s team is playing better, especially defensively.
Three of the next four games are on the road, though, including dates at Texas Tech and UCF next.
The Cougars got whacked by UNLV, but gave Oklahoma all it could handle. This is the start of a run of three road games in the next four dates.

Why Houston Will Win
The pass defense has been terrific so far.
There might be a few problems getting the O going, and there isn’t much of a pass rush, but the secondary has yet to allow anyone get to 60% passing and hasn’t allowed more than 175 yards.
Cincinnati has the offense cranked up, but the secondary is getting lit up for over 300 yards per game.
Houston has to come out of its shell a little bit, but the passing yards will be there. However …
