Stinky situation: critter control team sees uptick in skunks

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Have you noticed more skunks across the Tri-State this season? If so, you’re not alone. One local wildlife control company says they’re getting a lot of calls about the critters. But for Donald Roberts and David Fisher, the uptick means just another day at the office. From foxes, to skunks, and everything in between, the two are hard at work taking calls from area residents about unwanted animals.

“At the end of the day, we have to keep in mind that these animals, this is their environment,” says Fisher. “We have built our homes on farmland, on forest areas that we have taken away from them, and they have very little places to go.”

Fisher started his company, Nuisance Wildlife Control, this past January. Joined by Roberts, the duo has seen an uptick in the number of skunk sightings. Roberts says he and Fisher have received around 60 calls this season for skunks alone.

“That is, a lot of factors,” explains Roberts, “breeding season, food sources, everything from just feeding your bird, they love bird seed.” We were able to follow along, at a safe distance, as the two retrieved a captured skunk from a trap.
