Tennessee Vols predicted to lose key 2025 commit

The Tennessee Vols could be on the verge of losing a key 2025 commit.

On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons predicted on Friday that 2025 four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu will flip his commitment from Tennessee to Oregon.

Utu, 6-foot-4/317 lbs from Las Vegas, NV, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 101 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. He committed to Tennessee in late June.

Wiltfong noted on Friday that Oregon is losing six of their top seven offensive linemen after the 2024 season. Wiltfong also pointed out that Oregon likes Utu at tackle, which is the position he prefers to play. We don’t know sure if that’s the reason for Utu’s potential flip, but it could certainly be a factor.

Losing Utu would definitely be a tough loss for the Vols. After all, you can never sign too many offensive linemen if you’re an SEC program (advice that was apparently never shared with former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley).
