LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department warned the community on Friday of another scam involving an individual attempting to impersonate LPD.
Scammers pose as Lubbock police to target local businesses
A female with a “dialect that is not from this region” called individuals claiming to be Lt. Fletcher with LPD, the department said. The scammer said they are investigating a fraud case, listed a false report number and asked the individual for their bank account information. The scammer spoofed LPD’s number 806-775-2865.
LPD emphasized it would never ask someone for their bank account information.
