Man arrested in Columbia County for attempted murder

GREENPORT, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– An Erie County man was arrested in Columbia County on Tuesday. According to New York State Police, Andrew Case, 41, was traveling through Columbia County with three shotguns in his car.

Troopers say Case was allegedly traveling to Westchester County with the shotguns, intending to shoot his estranged wife’s romantic partner. He was stopped and arrested on Route 9 in Greenport and charged with multiple felonies and a misdemeanor.

Charges:

  • Attempted Murder in the first degree, a class B felony
  • Attempted Assault in the first degree, a class C felony
  • Criminal Use of a Firearm in the first degree, a class C felony
  • Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor

Ballston man arrested on multiple gun charges following road rage incident

Case was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court. He was later remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
