APD adding more academies per year

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There will be more opportunities for people to become Albuquerque police officers or police service aides. The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) says they will have four academies a year – two at its training facility and another two at CNM.

That is double what they are offering now and the department says if cadets can start training sooner, they are more likely to become officers. Right now, APD has 908 officers, including the cadets from the 130th Academy Class, who are expected to graduate from the academy next month.

The 131st Academy Class will begin on October 7 with 25 projected cadets while the CNM 13 Academy Class is projected to have 30. The CNM class begins on December 30.

Anyone interested in joining APD can apply online .
