New video shows moments after fatal crash involving BCSO deputy

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a fatal crash involving a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy. Albuquerque police and BCSO didn’t agree on what initially took place and now for the first time, KRQE News 13 is seeing body camera footage from the night and hearing from the deputy.

“It’s going to be 45-0, vehicle stopped in front of me, causing me to crash into it,” said the deputy involved.

That was the radio call moments after crashing into a car near Edith and Alameda Road. The crash then turned to for the worse.

“Not conscious, not breathing,” the deputy said in his radio.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old Alexandria Gerard, then crashed into a wall and died. APD and BCSO disagreed initially on what happened and now KRQE News 13 is hearing from the deputy involved for the first time. KRQE News 13 is not naming him as the investigation into what happened is ongoing.
