No offensive tackles among Browns’ moves a positive sign for Sunday’s game vs. Giants

CLEVELAND — The Saturday roster moves and gameday elevations can foreshadow a lot of what a team will do personnel-wise the next day.

The Browns announced Saturday they were signing tight end Blake Whiteheart and running back Gary Brightwell of the practice squad to the active roster. They are also elevating tight end Geoff Swaim and cornerback Tony Brown II from the practice squad to the gameday roster for Sunday’s home game against the New York Giants , while signing linebacker Nathaniel Watson back to the practice squad.

Whiteheart and Swaim joins Jordan Akins to give Cleveland two tights end available with David Njoku still out with an ankle injury. Brightwell adds depth at running back with Pierre Strong Jr. out with a hamstring injury and both Nick Chubb and Nyheim Hines still on either physically unable to perform or the non-football injury list.

What wasn’t among those moves was an offensive tackle, as has been the case the first two games of the season with practice-squad elevation Germain Ifedi . That could be a very good sign for the Browns’ offensive line against the Giants.
