Phil Tarney moved to Seattle in 2007 to join training staff of the Seattle Thunderbirds. 17 years later he can proudly claim he had a pivotal role in preparing the team as they won the 2017 and 2023 Western Hockey League Championship.

Over the summer Tarney decided it was time for a change of scenery, but he didn’t leave too far from the Thunderbirds home ice in Kent, WA. Tarney announced he would be trading roles from Head Athletic Trainer in the WHL to Assistant Trainer in the NHL, for the Seattle Kraken.
